In the first preparation game of the 2022/2023 season Győri Audi ETO KC played with the team of Neckarsulm from the German first league. Our team took control of the match from the start, but the visitors kept up. The lead was three goals for Győr at the half. The difference between the two teams continued to grow in the second half, resulting in a 43-31 victory for our side.
The girls of Ambros Martín met the players of Neckarsulm from Germany in their first preparation game in Audi Aréna Győr. An interesting aspect of this matchup was that both teams are sponsered by Audi. (The company has an important plant situated in the city of Neckarsulm.) In this way, the two sponsered teams of the German automobile giant’s two production sites played against each other. Sandra Toft and Linn Blohm could only help the team from the sideline due to small injuries. Therefore, two talanted young players Bordás Bianka and Győri Alexa took their positions.
Our head coach started the season’s first preparation game with the line-up of Győri-Lukács, Ryu, Broch, Oftedal, Hansen, Fodor and Solberg in goal. Győri-Lukács Viktória was the first to score, our team led 11-6 in the 10th minute. After 15 minutes of play the visitors came back and made it 14-11. For the remaining ten minutes of the first half, we led again by five goals. The score was 21-18 at half-time.
The second half started with a goal from Yvette Broch, but the visitors had to wait four minutes for their first goal (24-19). Faluvégi scored in the 40th minute making the lead 5 goals (27-22). Our lead extended to eight goals 15 minutes before the end (31-23). Oftedal scored in the 48th minute making the difference 10 goals between the two teams (34-23). Towards the end of the game the only question remaining was the extent of the victory against Neckarsulm. The final score of our first preparation game of the season: 43-31.
Ambros Martín: „We played against a good opponent where we could try out situations that we have already started to practice. However, it is clear that we still have to improve, especially in defence. The game also helped in integrating the new players. Trainings are useful, but in this phase of preparation, we can learn most from real game situations.
