In the last match of the group phase of the DELO EHF Champions League, Győri Audi ETO KC played at home of Vipers Kristiansand in a match without any real stakes for us. We were leading for a long time in the first half, but eventually the teams went into the break with a 3 goal lead for the home team. The second half was a huge battle, with the Norwegian side winning by one goal in a game full of twists and turns.
Amandine Leynaud was given a rest by Ambros Martín for the match against the Norwegian team. The match started in defense for us with Solberg in the goal, and the six of Schatzl, Hansen, Oftedal, Brattset, Kristiansen, and Lukács. Solberg's save and Brattset's goal started the game. In the tenth minute our team was already leading to 4 - 2, so the home team's head coach called time out. After a quarter of an hour our team still held a two-goal lead (8 - 6). Turning to the last ten minutes, the home team closed the gap to one goal (10 - 9) with a seven-metre penalty and half a minute later they equalised (10 - 10), so Ambros Martín called time-out. In the 25th minute our opponrnts took the lead (12 - 11) and the first half ended with a 16 - 13 lead for the home team.
The second half started with a goal by Csenge Fodor (16 - 14), but the home team kept their three-goal lead after ten minutes (22 - 19). In the Vipers' goal Lunde showed great bravura, keeping the home team in the lead. In the 50th minute, we managed to equalize, and then Nze Minko's half-court goal gave Győri Audi ETO KC the lead again (26 - 25). In the fifty-third minute, however, the home team took a two-goal lead (28 - 26). In the remaining minutes, amidst great excitement, our team unfortunately failed to turn the game around, and we were defeated by Vipers by one goal, 30 - 29.
