In the last match of this season's DELO EHF Champions League, Győri Audi ETO KC played at home to Kastamonu from Turkey. The fate of the meeting was decided already in the first half thanks to fast forwards and tough defense. With a 38 - 22 victory our team finished the autumn without any mistakes.
Amandine Leynaud and Viktória Lukács were rested for today's game, while Dorottya Faluvégi, who is recovering from a finger injury, was back in the squad. Head coach Ambros Martín gave the final game of the season to the six of Fodor, Háfra, Blohm, Nze Minko, Ryu, Faluvégi and Laura Glauser in the goal. The match started with a goal from Noémi Háfra, then Estelle Nze Minko scored a goal (2 - 0). Thanks to our team's tough defence and fast rushes, we led 9 - 4 in the 13th minute. By the last ten minutes of the half, Győr was leading to 14 - 6. With the returning Faluvégi's goal in the 24th minute the difference was already ten goals in our team's favour (17 - 7). The period ended with an untimed free throw, which was blocked by Pintea, so the teams could go into the break with a 19 - 9 Győr lead.
The second half started with a Brattset goal. Our defence continued to work well and in the 40th minute we led by eleven goals to 24 - 13. In the middle of the half we made more mistakes in the attacking play and the turkish team was able to reduce the deficit (29 - 19), but Glauser closed the gap and within seconds the difference increased to more than 10 in favour of our team (31 - 19). By the last 10 minutes of the match, the team had a 13-goal lead (33 - 20). Ryu's seven-metre goal out of time finally resulted in a confident 16-goal victory for Győr in the last Champions League match of the season.
