In the 5th round of the DELO EHF Champions League, Győri Audi ETO KC was a guest in the French Metz’s home. The first half brought an exciting, varied game, but with a one-goal lead for Győr. The teams played a great game in the second half, but in the end, with Estelle Nze Minko’ leadership, we won by four goal, to 33–29.
Ambros Martín started the match with Schatzl, Hansen, Brattset, Oftedal, Ryu, Lukács and with Solberg in the goal. The first scorer was Anne Mette Hansen, but the French team immediately replied. The teams were going neck and neck, and after 10 minutes we led by one goal, to 5–4. After a quarter of an hour, the Hansens (9–7) were two goals behind, and Ambros Martín asked for his first timeout. After the timeout, our team presented a 3–0 series, took the lead (10-9), then the French team took their timeout. The first half ended with a one-goal lead of 16–15 for Győr.
Laura Glauser came in to the goal for the second half, however the start of the half was the French team’s. In the 39th minute with a two-goal disadvantage (18 -16) Ambros Martin called a timeout. Estelle Nze Minko then took over the goal-scoring role. In the 46th minute, we took back the advantage again (22–20). The final 10 minutes started with a two-goal lead for Győr, but in the 54th minute the home side equalised, 26-26. We managed to create a reassuring advantage in the final minutes and finally our team won to 33–29.
