Not so long ago the two top player, Görbicz Anita and Anja Althaus, played against each other, when the German pivot caused hard times to the Hungarian team, now they are fighting for mutual goals as team members. Anja Althaus has said more times that being a member of the green-white team has been one of her dreams for a long time that’s why she decided to join. She feels the power in herself and we hope that we will witness beautiful moments during the season.

When did you start playing handball?
I started at the age of 5, I tried many other things as well, but I always returned to handball. We can say that I was born to be a handball player, my mom and aunties also played this sport, so I spent a lot of time at the court.

How did you react when you learned that ETO was interested in you. In the FINAL4, you and your previous team, Vardar, got defeated by them and at the press conference you announced your resignation in tears. What made you continue?
When I learned that Győr was interested in me, I couldn’t believe it in the first moments that it was happening to me, I hadn’t expected it at all. I was happy and shocked at the same time. I rejected all the other offers, I was planning my future, and suddenly the phone rang, that felt a little different. I had felt that I would finish my career, I hadn’t expected this opportunity. The press conference was indeed emotional, of course, I didn’t want to say good bye like this, but we had to accept the 2nd place and since I thought it was the end, I got emotional.

You know your team mates from other stages of your career. You have mentioned many times that Görbicz Anita as a person is an important factor in continuing in ETO. How does it feel to be in one team with the earlier opponents.?
At the national team matches we have played against each other many times, it’s special to play in the same club and fight for the same goals with these fantastic players. We are almost the same age with Görbe, we have played against each other many times, she was a really hard opponent who is respected so much so I was looking forward to experience how it feels to play together with her in the same team.

What do you do in your free time?
Being a professional athlete, it is hard to talk about hobbies, I like watching films and series and going out. If I have time I like spending it with my family and friends.

What do you think about the fans?
I have been able to experience what atmosphere they can create. They are determined and they put all their heart and soul in supporting the team. I was really curious, how they will act now that I’m not an opponent anymore. I have received many positive messages on social media portals after announcing my club change. It felt great to experience how supportive they are at a training match at home.

What are you goals for the season?
To achieve everything we can. It’s great to be here so I would like to make the best of being here.

Do you think you can win the Champions League for the 3rd time?
Definitely. We had been fighting for this with my team mates for the past few years, but something always went wrong. I hope this time it won’t happen again, and everything will be the way we plan. And there is room for another star on my arm.

So your tattoos are in connection with your results in your career.
Yes, the two stars above represents the CL victories, I have left room free to place the third. The smaller stars are the German championship victories, the numbers are for the beginning of my career in Germany and Denmark. I have to find the place for the numbers for the Macedonian and Hungarian periods. The birds is the symbol of success, the Olympic flame represents the participation in the Olympics in London in 2008.

Finally, what is your message for the fans?
Thank you for the warm welcome, I hope there is a great season in front of us. I’m happy to be here, I’m gonna do my best for success and I know that they will be there too if we need support.

Welcome to the team, we hope you can make everything that you have planned come true.
