The players, who had no idea what to expect, entered the base of the 12th Arrabona Air Defense Artillery Regiment with excited smiles on their faces. The managing body of the club and the Hungarian Defense Forces organized an unusual team building program for the girls. The 4-hour training was conducted by professional soldiers who strictly required discipline. They didn’t hesitate to punish the troublemakers with their teammates by making them do push-ups and squats.
The girls together with the technical staff dressed up in military uniform then were divided into two units Alpha and Bravo and waited for the commands. The beginning of the training was unexpectedly interrupted by taking hostages so the mission was clear for everybody: they have to set their team mate free.
While unit Alpha were struggling through the obstacle course, unit Bravo was getting familiar with camouflaging and putting up the military tent and getting theoretical training dressed in chemical protection gear and oxygen mask. At the end of the program, the units changed activity so everybody could try themselves in everything.
The program of this busy morning also included drilling, grenade handling and a lot of crawling which the newly conscripted soldiers seemingly really enjoyed. As the highlight of the day, the girls could explore the caterpillared vehicles of the Hungarian Defense Forces, then they were rewarded after lunch by getting their own tags in front of saluting soldiers. Both teams performed well, real team spirit helped them through the exercises. The professional staff made a huge pledge, they are welcome in the military after their handball career.
We are really grateful for the 12th Arrabona Air Defense Artillery Regiment of the Hungarian Defense forces for the organization of the program – we are filled with unforgettable new experiences.
The team building program was recorded on video in which some of the participants talk about their experiences.
