At the first match of this season, ETO was welcomed with full house in the home of the opponent team. The home fans created a celebration-like atmosphere at the first match in the Championship. Heidi Löke was absent, she was told to relax.
In the first half ETO started the game, Kiss was the goalkeeper and Görbicz, Amorim, Broch, Mörk, Hársfalvi and Kendlikova were the court players. Mörk scored the first goal of the new season. ETO scored two goals after this and then at the end of the 5th minute, the opponent could get the ball in the net. Umanets, in the opponent team, got suspended, and Mörk scored the penalty. After their second goal Kisvárda got a 7-meter throw then they could reduce the difference a little bit and Broch got suspended. ETO was leading the whole time, they increased the difference from 3 to 5. Szabó got suspended at the very beginning of the 27th minute, then Mörk and Amorim scored, 1,5 minute before the end Amorim got suspended, then so did Sazbó. Orbán took advantage of it and the result was 11-18 at the end of the first half.
Mychovych scored the first goal of the second half from the opponent team, then Mörk replied scoring the 20th ETO goal. Gedroit scored one then got suspended, however, Mörk missed the penalty throw. The court players kept scoring, and Kiss proved her qualities at the net. Groot got suspended, but they missed the penalty, we took the goalkeeper to the court, so Bízik could score to an empty net. The goals were scored back and forth, but the opponent couldn’t take the lead, ETO won 32-21 in the home of the newcomer.
Ambros Martín: “Congratulations to the home team. To start a new season is never easy. My team was really concentrated, but sometimes there were missed opportunities. I’m happy that we got the first 2 points.”
Kovács Péter: “One of the best teams of the world played here today, this was a real handball celebration. The 11-goal defeat is okay, but we had flaws that are upsetting. Congratulations to ETO good luck in the CL.”
Bódi Bernadett: “I’m happy to return with a goal. Flaws were obvious, but we had little time to prepare, as we are advancing we are going to correct them.”
