ETO showed a very organized play from the first to the last minute of the match. We were incredibly effective at defense they could hardly throw, we could get everywhere and force them to make mistakes. We could get the ball from our steady defense and launch fast counter attacks. We attacked patiently and tricked the Romanian defense so goals could be scored from immediate attacks, back shots, sides and pivot position as well. The referees were very stern, we got a little bit too many suspensions as a result of the aggressive defense. We finished short-handed which was extended to the second half too. The final result after 30 minute was 8-14.
In the second half we were seemed to have been stuck in the lockers, the Romanians, however, didn’t give up. They could reduce our advantage to one goal thanks to their professional pivot. But thanks to our organized defense, Kari’s beautiful saves, our tough attacks and Ida’s penalty scores we could win. The final result was 24-22. Good job girls!
Ambros Martin: “It was a very important victory today, not only because of the two points, but because we wanted focus on our own play. The first half was great, we could have a big goal difference, it might have distracted us. However, Bucharest is composed of excellent players, they fought hard until the very last moment they didn’t want to lose, but in the key moments we could regain our energy and win. Our team improves very well, but we haven1t reached our best yet, we have to perform well during the whole match. We have time since there is three months until the end of the season.
